"So what is the downside? The robot will most likely have to attract the hapless flies by using a stinking lure concocted from human excrement. "
...so I don't really see how "most likely" and "human excrement" are related to a robot eating flies... they could just as easily produce an odor equivalent to that excreted by the corpse flower.
well I mean, not AS EASILY I'm sure, but who's poo are we talking about? If Korean geneticists get into trouble for using their graduate students' eggs, then where are the ethics in human poop-driven robots? There's GOT to be a less disgusting version of robotic autonomy waiting to be not-pooped into being.
anyways, I hail the day when we create cyborg zombies... and cyborg autonomous brains that they chase around on cable tv for our entertainment.

Our entire civilisation is built on the basis of a slimy black substance squished over several million years from the rotting remains of a billion itty-bitty helpless sea creatures.
Now that's really disgusting.

exactly. WE KNOW BETTER. We CAN help it whether we use poo or oil or whatever to fuel our electronic/transportation needs. BTW, I rather enjoy the idea of my car being a "death smoker" powered by "dino juice."
